Privacy Policy

Last updated October 15, 2026

This policy explains what information LandscapeGPT collects when you use landscapegpt.io, why, who helps us process it, how long we keep it and the choices and rights you have. We don't sell your personal information.

1Who we are

LandscapeGPT ("we", "us") runs landscapegpt.io and is responsible for the personal information described here. If you have any question about it, or want to use your rights, email [email protected].

This policy covers the Site and the Services described in our Terms of Service. It doesn't cover other websites we link to.

2What we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details: your email address and name, and if you sign in with Google or Apple, the basic profile they share (name, email, profile picture).
  • Photos and content: the photos you upload (of your yard, garden, plants or items), the areas you select, your choices, instructions and notes, and the results we create from them, including designs, plant lists, planting and project plans, plant identifications and health checks.
  • Location you enter: a town, ZIP or postal code, or hardiness zone, used to check plants against your climate. We don't use your device's GPS.
  • Messages: anything you send us by email.

Information from payments

When you subscribe, Stripe handles the payment. We receive and keep your Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, your plan, its status and renewal date, your billing email, and a record that you completed checkout and when. We never receive or store your full card number.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage records: which tools you use and when, what each request was for, and the result, so your designs reach your library and we can apply fair-use limits.
  • Device and connection details: your IP address, browser and device type, an approximate location (city, region and country, derived from your IP address), and session identifiers, recorded when you sign in and when you use a tool.
  • Ad click information: if you arrive from a Google ad, the ad click identifier, kept in your browser and attached to your checkout so we can measure which ads lead to subscriptions.
  • Cookies and browser storage: see section 9.

3How we use it

  • To provide the Services: create your designs and plant results, save them to your library, and check plants against your location.
  • To run your account and subscription: sign-in, billing, renewals, cancellations and support.
  • To keep the Services safe and fair: enforce daily limits, prevent fraud and abuse, and secure our systems.
  • To keep records of what each account received and when, so we can respond to payment disputes and chargebacks with evidence, and meet tax and accounting obligations.
  • To publish example designs, as described in section 4.
  • To understand and improve the Services, and to measure which of our ads lead to subscriptions.
  • To comply with the law and enforce our Terms.

We don't use your photos or content to train AI models, and we don't sell them.

If you are in the UK or the EU, our legal bases are: performing our contract with you (providing the Services and your subscription); our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, dispute evidence, improving the Services, publishing example designs that don't identify you, and measuring our advertising), which we balance against your rights; legal obligations (tax and accounting records); and your consent where we ask for it.

4Example designs

Finished designs created with the Services may be published as example designs on our website so other people can find ideas for their gardens. We publish only the finished design: never the photo you uploaded, your name, your account details or anything you typed. Each design is checked automatically before it is published, and designs that show a house or street number, a street sign, a licence plate, a person or other readable text are not published. Published images are re-saved, so no hidden data from your photo goes with them. When you remove a design from My designs, its example page is taken down. To ask us not to publish your designs at all, email [email protected].

5Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers who process it for us under contract, and only as needed to run the Services:

  • Hosting, database, file storage and content delivery providers, which run the Site and store your account, library and records.
  • An authentication provider, which manages sign-up, sign-in and sign-in emails (and Google or Apple if you choose them).
  • Stripe, which processes payments, manages subscriptions and provides the billing portal.
  • AI service providers that generate images from your photos and instructions, and analyze photos and designs to identify plants, check plant health, write plant lists and plans, and check designs before they are published as examples. They receive the photos and text needed for each request.
  • Google, which provides the place suggestions when you type a town (it receives what you type) and, if you arrive from or interact with our ads, measures ad performance (see section 9).
  • Usage-limit and caching providers, which keep counters linked to your account.

To look up climate and plant facts, we send only what's needed: plant names to open plant databases (GBIF, USDA PLANTS and Trefle), and a ZIP code or town to public lookup services that convert it to a hardiness zone. These requests don't include your name or email.

We may also share information if the law requires it, to respond to valid legal requests, to protect the rights, safety and property of our users, LandscapeGPT or others, to respond to a payment dispute (we give the card network or bank the records of what your account received), or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of our business, in which case this policy continues to apply.

We don't sell personal information. We use Google's advertising measurement, which some US state laws may treat as "sharing" personal information for targeted advertising. To opt out, email [email protected], and you can also limit ad personalization in your Google account settings.

6Where it's processed

We're based in the United States, and our service providers mainly process data in the United States. If you're outside it, your information is transferred there. Where the law requires, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses and the UK addendum to them.

7How long we keep it

  • Account details: while your account is open. When you delete your account, your profile and sign-in are removed; we keep a record that the account existed and when it was deleted, with the payment records below.
  • Designs, plant results and their photos: until you remove them. Removed items disappear from your library and from the public site straight away; to have the stored files deleted too, email us.
  • Subscription, payment and usage records: for as long as needed for billing, tax and accounting, and to respond to payment disputes, which can be opened months after a charge. In practice this is up to 7 years.
  • Messages to us: as long as needed to deal with them, then as part of our records.

We may keep information longer where the law requires it or to resolve a dispute.

8Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, receive a copy in a portable format, object to or restrict some uses, withdraw consent you've given, and opt out of targeted advertising or "sharing". We'll honor these requests wherever the law gives you the right, and we won't treat you differently for using them.

To make a request, email [email protected] from the address on your account. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on it, and we'll respond within the time the law requires (usually 30 to 45 days). Some records, such as payment and dispute records, may have to be kept even after a deletion request, for the reasons in section 7.

If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to your local data protection authority, such as the UK Information Commissioner's Office, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, your EU supervisory authority or your state attorney general.

Emails: we send emails needed to run your account (sign-in codes and receipts). We'll only send marketing emails if you've agreed to them, and every marketing email has an unsubscribe link.

9Cookies and browser storage

  • Essential: cookies that keep you signed in and secure your session. The Site doesn't work without them.
  • Preferences: small items in your browser's storage, such as the image model you chose.
  • Advertising measurement: when ad measurement is switched on, Google's tags set cookies to measure whether visits from our ads lead to subscriptions. At checkout we may send Google your email address and name, which Google hashes, to match a subscription to an ad click. We also keep the ad click identifier in your browser's storage for up to 90 days.

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings; if you block essential cookies you won't be able to sign in.

10Security

We protect information with encryption in transit, access controls and providers with strong security practices. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password or sign in with Google or Apple. If we learn of a breach that affects you, we'll tell you as the law requires.

11Children

The Services are for adults (18 and over) and aren't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, email [email protected] and we'll delete it.

12Changes to this policy

We'll post any change here with a new date. If a change is significant, we'll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect.
